A Butterfly Weft looks especially natural when it is prepared cleanly, placed evenly, and attached without unnecessary tension. Allow enough time for your first application and work in a bright spot with two mirrors.
What to lay out

- pliers for closing and opening
- tail comb, sectioning clips, and an extension brush
- two mirrors or a second person to check the work
Step 1: Prepare your hair
The hair should be clean, dry, and free of heavy oils. Brush it through completely and loosen any knots before you create the section.
Step 2: Allow for enough covering hair
Draw a gently curved section at the back of the head. Enough of your own hair has to remain above the weft so that the connection is fully covered later. Ends set too high can become visible when you move.
Step 3: Fit the weft to the shape of the head
First lay the weft along the section without attaching it. Check width, curve, and position. About 0.5 cm of distance from the scalp is a comfortable guide, so that the attachment does not press or pull.
Step 4: Pick up even strands of your own hair
Pull small, even strands through the openings provided. Strands that are too large create tension; strands that are too small may not hold well enough.
Step 5: Close the microrings flat
Thread the ring on, position it in a controlled way, and press it flat with the pliers. The connection should be stable, but it should neither hurt nor press directly against the scalp.
Step 6: Close the sandwich
Once all points are attached and checked, the upper part of the weft is folded down. This covers the attachment points and gives the weft its flat finish.
Mistakes to avoid
- Too close to the scalp: this can cause pressure and pain.
- Uneven strands: they do not distribute the weight evenly.
- Too little covering hair: the connection can become visible.
- Positioning it too tightly: the weft has to follow the shape of the head.
- No final check: always check both ends and every attachment.
